So tell me about ConnectSMART?

Who?

Connections for Business, Inc. started in 1976 as family-owned VAR operating out of Hollywood, Florida.

Why?

The product ConnectSMART was created in 2005 and was born out of a necessity for in-depth comprehensive reporting needs. What started as something for internal use to help refine MSP best practices, the demand for the product has been overwhelming and we now service clientel across the globe.

What?

ConnectSmart is a Business Intelligence software that derives hard-to find database data and translates it into an easy-to-read graphical dashboard display, or gadget if you will. The possibilities are endless and are limited to only by your imagination of what you can create.

Where?

Connect-smart consists of three elemental pieces: 1) Server, 2) Creator, and 3) Client.

Typically the ConnectSmart Server is installed on a dedicated server or virtual machine. The Creator and Client can also be installed on the same PC if so desired. The Creator piece is used for dashboard creation and for saving out the dashboards for deployment. The Creator is used to create and edit the gadgets, assigning board names, ticket statuses, editing titles and so forth. Once the dashboards are created, The Client piece is then installed to view the dashboards. The Client piece is typically installed on the big plasma screens in the NOC, as well as on the individual workstations run by your technicians. The Client also includes capabilities for selecting parameters on the fly with a simple right click on each gadget to change a board name, ticket exclusion, etc.

How?

When the dashboards are run, the requests are sent first to the ConnectSMART service and queued in the engine cache. They are then ordered and then passed on as a query to the database. The benefit of this technology is the minimal load that is put on the database server due to the caching engine located on the ConnectSmart server. This guarantees smooth even performance from your PSA client all day long.
